Warrnambool Show Photographic Competition

Entries for the Warrnambool Show photographic section are due in on the 15th October 2010. Photos don't have to be in until Tuesday 26th October, so there is still plenty of time to get organised.

Information on sections and the rules and regulations are in the Show schedule handbook - these are available from the Standard or the office at the show ground.

A few hints and tips.
  • It is a good idea to wrap your prints in clear celophane to avoid bird damage.
  • Please do not stick your entry tag on the back of the print. It is to be taped on to the side so the information is visible from the front of the print.

Camera Club display at the show

Each year we display work by club members at the show. If anyone has some mounted prints they can let us use for a few days that would be great. Also we need volunteers to help set up the prints on Tuesday 26th in the afternoon. Possibly also on Wed and Thursday.(I'll let you know)

CameraPro Rainforest Rescue Photographic Competition

The club recently received the follwoing information from CameraPro. For more information go to www.camerapro.net.au

We are excited to invite your club members to be a part of our Rainforest Rescue Photographic Competition. As supporters of Rainforest Rescue and several other NGO’s for the past several years, it has been our belief that photography is a medium not only to bring awareness to environmental issues, but a platform of action to address environmental and social issues in the world we live in.

By taking part in the competition, your club members can be a part of this change, and hopefully see first hand what positive initiatives are taking place in looking after the environment by winning our Grand Prize and experience change first hand.

October Competition Results

October Competition Results

The set topic for October was "Tools of Trade". Thanks to Perry Cho for judging. After some hearty discussion about next year’s judging system some members showed projected images that they had taken.

Graham showed some recent photographs of Broken Hill and the wild flowers there, Les showed some great images that he had been working on and Roger showed a collection of great photographs from a New Zealand photographer. Feedback from members as to whether they enjoyed this type of activity would be appreciated.

Maitland International Salon of Photography

International print Exhibitions, Maitland International is the oldest International in Australia Updated: 29/07/2010
I wish to draw your attention to world wide problem that is now taking place with International print Exhibitions, Maitland International is the oldest International in Australia, first established in 1934 as a print exhibition at the Maitland Show, from that time it developed to become one of the most prominent exhibitions in the world, our exhibition at present is prints and digital projection, but we would like to retain our print section which is on view during the Maitland Show and also at the Maitland City Gallery, this coming year the Digital exhibition will also be on view at the Gallery as well as the showground, it is very obvious that a great number of print Salons world wide have dropped there prints and are now Digital only, this is a concern for us especially when numbers went down slightly last exhibition, especially in Nature, it is our hope that we can keep our print exhibition, and the purpose of this Email is to ask you to forward this Email to all your clubs, Maitland International is Australians exhibition and we need all the support we can get. The history, plus entry form etc. see website www.maitlandsalon.com Yours in Photography Jim Thomson Chairman Maitland International.
