Bunnings BBQ

Yahoo! A big thanks to everyone that helped on Sunday! We we're lucky as it was one of the busiest Sundays Bunnings has had in a while. We made $853.60 profit (I'm not too sure about the $3.60!!! maybe somebody needed 40c to phone a friend or maybe I can't count!!)

Special thanks to Bakers Delight for donating approximately 30 loaves of bread and to Coles Supermarkets in town and at Centro for donating sausages.

VAPS Muster

The VAPS Muster at Macedon 2009 is all over, Karen and Rhonda survived the Muster as well as the climb up Hanging Rock.

Here is a bit of a round up of what you missed.

Saturday morning we heard about the Otway’s Photographic competition for 2009. (see link on site). Then we saw a slide show of the VAPS Photographic tour of Vietnam & Cambodia.
Guest speaker was Jeremy Bannister (senior photographer with the Ballarat Courier). Jeremy showed what equipment he used (yep all Nikon) and lots of his photographs, along with stories of some of the fun he has while trying to set up pollies to look silly.
After lunch Robert Groom spoke about DAM (Digital Asset Management). This was a great workshop, explaining how to save your images and file them in a manageable order.
There was also workshops by Peter Dwyer on Black & White images in Photoshop and Lightroom. Dennis Nolan gave a workshop on Sharpening Techniques in Photoshop.
Jim Wetherill had a model available for a photo shoot.

Day 2 saw us miss the first few items as we where busy climbing Hanging Rock and trying not to get lost!
Guest speaker was Ian Rolfe on Creative Landscape Photography. Then Andrew Chapman talked about his recent books. After lunch we saw the AV’s but missed the EDPI’s and the slides.

So how did Warrnambool fair.....
Tania Jacobson received a Merit in Open Prints for her print “Shearing Shed”
Our Club ranking in all categories (excluding AV’s) was a score of 206 which had us as 10th. Doncaster Camera club had the top score of 228.
For our Novice Prints Aggregate score was 50 placing us 20th.
Open Prints Aggregate score was 62 placing us in 4th.
Slides Aggregate score was 47 placing us at 17th.
EDPI Aggregate score was 47 placing us 21st.
So well done to all those that submitted work.

I would encourage you to get along to the next VAP’S Muster and have some fun as we did.

Before & After's

Hi all, thought I would post a before and after and roughly what I did!! Would love to see everyone else's tricks!
Basically, I was playing around with 'Pioneer Woman's' actions (which incidentally are very cool!)
I firstly added a cooling action (cant remember what called sorry) that really added the blue tones you see. I then slightly pumped the saturation. After this I copied a layer and sharpened it a lot, with the intention of rubbing out just the area on the frond that you can see is sharpest. The last thing was a 'quick edge burn' action to lift the shot and make you further focus on the sharp frond!! Hope you like!! P.S this is Kate!!
